87 Turbo 4runner question

First off let me start by saying i will NEVER deal with LC engineering again. but thats a whole nother thread.

I got a turbo kit from LC and the have a company called TEC ship out there kits and they left out some parts. Step 28 says cut intake pipe and add hose with COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE FITTING is that a fancy name for a blow off valve i didnt get or is that just a vacuum line i need to connect in there?

Question is urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Fitting" should only be the clamp or connector. I would bet you're right that a compressor discharge blah blah = blow off valve.

I had the same kit. It doesnt come with a BOV. you're suppose to cut the intake tube and put in the piece of rubber hose on it because with the new turbo the intake tube won't mount up right.

ok thanks man, are you supposed to get a downpipe too? because i didnt but TEC website says their upgrade kit comes with a 2.5in downpipe. And that fitting that goes in the block they didnt send me either and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find in town. And do i need to work a BOV into that system for it to function right?

Vancouver huh? i live in portland we should go wheelin sometime if i ever get this turbo kit on........

You don't *need* a BOV, its just a good way to keep your turbo healthy for longer because when you let off the gas and the throttle plate closes the turbo is still producing pressure. With a BOV the pressure is released, without the pressure pushes back onto the turbo compressor.

Since you have a 4Runner (and I'm assuming its a factory turbo) then you have an auto, and the BOV is not that critical since you don't let off the gas to shift. I wouldn't worry about it unless you had a 5 speed.

A downpipe however, is kinda important unless you like it REAL loud..

thanks for the BOV info. Lol i knew i needed a downpipe the one i have on there now will fit it but i was just going to be upset if the kit i paid for didnt have it. BTW how much power are you making with your set up that sounds pretty beefy

Don't have actual numbers yet.. It hauls though.. It'll be over 200hp to the wheels. Running about 9psi at the moment just because I keep having problems with my EGT gauge. Once I get the EGT sorted I'll be dialing it up to about 15psi. It already rips. I'm about to regear to 4.88 also. Fun fun..
