'87 Runner Where is the circuit opening relay

'87 Runner 4x4 auto trans
I can't get power to my fuel pump. I have a Toyota repair manual for my '87. So I shorter the terminals Fp and +B on the check connector , with the ignition on and everything worked. The fuel pump came on and the pressure regulator cam on. When I disconnected the short on the check connector and turn the ignition back on the fuel pump does not come on. I also took out the cold start inj. left the fuel line and connector on to see if it was spraying fuel , it wasn't. I checked it with the ohmmeter it is within specs. I can get the engine to run after 6 or 7 tries with the key. Help me out you pros ! BTW it has the 22RE engine

You also need to check voltage on the cold start timing switch to get power to your cs injector...but solve your fuel pump problem first.

Fuel pump only sends fuel when cranking witch is why u don't here it when key is in on position.

You probably have a fuel leak somewhere witch would explain lack of power as well as 6 or 7 times to start. When u turn it off it leaks out fuel from rail then it has to re prime (by cranking) witch is why it takes 6-7 times to start.

Ok YoderRunner, that sounds worth checking out. Where do you sugest I start? I have no fuel on the concrete after she has been running. It's has to be something simple, these engines (22RE) are pretty easy to work on it's just figureing out what to work on. The 2 fuel lines that return to the fuel tank, one goes to the canister the other to the regulator how should they be connected to the tank? One tube runs to the bottom if the tank the other just goes into the top. What keeps the pressure on the fuel after it's shut down? Thanks for any help.

Your fuel comes from the tank up threw the hard lines. then it goes into the filter. From the filter to the rail. The regulator then release fuel after 40 PSI and sends the excess down the fuel return line. I'd get it started then just run hour hands along the regulator and the filter and lines going to the tank. See if u feel fuel anywhere. If not then maybe u have a leaky injector.

Have u run diagnostics on your airflow meter? Because the opening circuit relay just turns the fuel pump on and off. The afm is what manages the amount of fuel sent. It tells the circuit opening relay how long to keep the pump on.

Also try running engine codes and see what u come up with.

Do you have a Factory Service Manual?
