Ok I nabbed a rusty bucket runner the other day. Started up at the persons house fine besides needing to give it gas.

Go to start after I tore out most of the interior and I get click, click. I didnt remove anything critical Ok check starter and bang away.. nada.. Then I notice that the hazards are on and wont shut off, huh?? So I figure its the alarm, ok so I reconnect the pos aftermarket alarm switch, bingo she starts after a few tries.

However now even with the switch the truck clicks, it isnt coming from the starter, but a relay near the passenger side glove box. I can physically see this relay and hear it click (or atleast I think thats whats maing the noise).

Doesnt matter if I use the clutch or the clutch start cancel it seems, truck will not wanna start for about 20 turns of the key then finally bingo it goes. I tried removing the alarm wires from the battery but it made no difference, then I noticed the factory harness on the drivers side has something tapped into it. Once it gets going I dont have any issues starting it again though..

Ideas???

 

starter contacts. relay isnt seeing the starter... i had this issue but i replaced the whole unit because i had one.

 

Were sure its the starter? I ask this b/c it did it again about 5 minutes ago. I hear the relay above the computer on the pass side going off like mad everytime I turn it, I smack that relay a bit and voila 2x it started up again..

The alarm does zilch afaik, i played with that switch a ton.. I wouldnt mind trying to rebuild it, but i can probably get one for about 30 bucks
