87 headlight problems

I have an 87 single cab 4x4 pickup. I was looking at my fuse's in my kick pannel, there were a bunch of excess wire's tapped into my fuses. i removed them because they led no where and when i did my headlight fuse blew. i replaced it and my headlight and my dash light's still dont work. i have looked over everything and still can't figure it out. i can hear the relay clicking on and everything. All my fuses are good and i only have marker lights and tail lights. Helpp! lol
Thanks guys

Did you check the fuses in the fuse box under the hood by the battery ?, lesson learned, when working on anything electrical disconnect the battery.

well it ended up bein both my headlight's burnt out when i was playing with my wire's, it poped the fuse and a replaced it and couldn't figure it out for the longest time, then we checked out the bulb's before takin it to the shop and they were both screwed. changed them out, and waaalaa, fixed. hope it goes as good for you man, oh yeah an dissconect your battery before playin with wire's, just like that one guy said lol
