87 4runner windshield

Ok, so I'm pretty new to yotas. I made the switch from jeeps and picked up an 87 4runner to build. 174xxx miles, solid frame, body's not rusted out. $750 bucks why not? But the windshield is pretty rough... I've been looking all over craigslist and at salvage yards. But I have found many simular year pick ups being parted out . Is it possible to use a windshield out of a simular year yota truck on my 4runner? Thanks!

Yes!!

Why not get a new one??

I guess it depends what part of the country your from even being super careful the used ones break.

Either Coming out or within in a month . after being installed.

Then maybe I just have bad luck after getting cut removing the last one I tried

A night in the hospital ER thank Odin before Obama Care .

Thanks man! I figured it might be possible. I looked around here and a new windshield + install isn't much less than what I paid for the truck haha. Is there any replacement places, like a lmc truck type place that sells new ones? I can't get myself to pay hundreds cause I know I'd probably bust it

I called safelite and was quotes less than 300. I would check kudzu.com or the parts houses for a local experienced sole proprietor with a good reputation. I would think the glass would be 150 or less cost.

Try some other local shops too. They even quoted me only $200 for my old Cadillac when I had them put a windshield in my GX470. I don't know how much that one was, because the dealer i bought it from picked up the tab, but they did a perfect job.

Re-using glass has risk. You never know what kind of stresses it had been through.

Safelite charged me $128 to replace mine. Tech installed rubber trim. Problem with rubber trim is it pushes against the surround, pushing the glass away from the seal. Now I have a leak at upper corner, passenger side. I'll ask Safelite to fix under warranty. This time I will not have a trim installed.
