87 4runner build FINALLY STARTING
I finally have some cash to start the build i've been wanting to do on my 87 4runner. I plan to keep the ifs with a blazeland kit, 4" lift springs in the rear, 35" tires, and 5.29 gears as well as some sliders and other home made armor. My only question right now relates to lockers. In a perfect world i would put air lockers front and rear(i already have the arb unit installed) but i can't afford it. SO, i would like to use one air locker, most likely up front, and explore my other options for the rear. I like the price of a lunchbox locker and i wouldn't mind the noise so much but i would like to maintain driveability as much as possible since i have to drive long distances to get to any good trails. How would a rear locker affect me as far as tire wear, gas mileage, on-road handling, etc? Any thoughts on the lockers, or my build plans please speak up. Thanks!

are you going t100 axle in the rear to match width on the blazeland front end? i would save up and buy the arb, if you already have the compressor in there, just run it open until you can afford it.
had an aussie in the rear of the 85, made noise at low speeds turning tight (like in a parking lot), but performed well off road. but i wish i had saved up and at least got a detroit or an e-locker

actually i hadn't even thought about the rear width. but my stock axle now needs seals and bearings replaced so i might as well look for a t100 axle. where does that leave me? driveshaft will still bolt up? i will need gears and a locker specific to the t100 axle then correct?

very useful info!
when you get your gears/locker setup get this and it will bolt up to your drive line

i know they make an eaton lsd for t100/tundra. maybe eaton makes a detroit t100/tundra locker you'd have to research that
edit: they do make an arb...

im kinda doing thwe same setup I have the blazeland and frt locker trying to setup my rear thinking of this kit http://www.trail-gear.com/rear-lift-kits
I like that I can set my pinion angle since I have to weld everything anyways but I don't know if I could get away with just a driveline spacer or if I need a long slip yoke. any Ideas?
