87 22re Alternator Bracket placement?

I got a serious n00b question here. I have this bracket, which I'm assuming is an alternator bracket. I have found lots of people asking this similar question, but I'm unable to find a good answer or a good picture of how it goes on.

Any instructions on how to get this piece attached would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what it looks like.

does this help? its not the alternator bracket though, it's the lower bracket for the power steering pump.

XXXTREME, FTW! I was just about to post one, but that's better. BTW, if you forgot it, when re-installing, DON'T FEEL BAD.... you're 1 in 10! lol. Oh, ..how do I know this? Read my build thread and you'll see me laughing at my 'ooops', lol. If not, then just slap it in the block and enjoy the ride! lol. You need to put the lower alternator mounting bracket in before putting this in....., from what I remember, to get it in....Notice, in x's picture, the Alternator pivot support
isn't in yet. i believe that's because you have to do it in reverse when installing.

Best of luck and welcome to Yotatech, Cornrow!

Mark

fyi, when I did my manual to power steering swap, I never put this bracket in. Haven't had a problem "yet".

alternator - P/S brackets

You do need to have the smaller alternator bracket on first. That attaches with the upper right bolt to the timing cover and another near the dipstick. It basically goes in front of and over the water pump pipe on the timing cover. Then you install the power steering pump which is 3 bolts to the side of the block (dont forget the ground wire from the alternator here) and 1 in the front of the head. The last bracket (Pictured at the beginning of this thread) bolts to the exposed engine block on the right where the timing chain cover doesnt cover completely. The 2 tabs point up. One bolt goes in from the rear to secure to the P/S bracket and the last one adjusts the tension of the alternator by going through the enlongated slide into the top of the alternator itself.. Its best not to lock all the bolts down completely on the P/S brackets until you get all the bolts through, it helps to have a little play to align everything up, then lock it down.
