87 22r overheating

hey my 87 22r carbed has been boiling over the last few days.my temp gauge dosnt work so not sure when its getting hot, but when i drove it about 25 kms got home it was boiling over. i ran it with the rad cap of let it bubble out and tried driving it yesterday . when i got to my buddys the same thing u could here it boiling over again. i did the headgasket a couple months ago and the heater was stuck on hot. it was getting to me so i fixed that last week the valve was stuck open on the firewall. so i'm guessing the reason it wasnt boiling over before is because the heat was circulating more. the clutch fan seems to be good anyone have any other ideas? i want to use this for a woods truck when the mvi is up but cant if its gonna overheat that quick.
