87 22r with 10k rebuild on longblock burning oil
I recently bought this truck with a rebuilt motor, (had the paperwork for the short block) When I bought it i crawled underneath, and couldn't find any oil leaks. It was a little oily but nothing bad. It never dripped in my driveway either. However, this thing would burn about a quart of oil in 60 miles. It would also backfire at around 70mph if I let off the gas and you would see a puff of blue smoke come out(guess a valve not functioning properly) I would have blue smoke on the startup and my dad followed me home from work one day and said it was blowing white smoke too going down the highway. When I took the head off the back of the block, the top of the back of the block was really oily. It only would burn the oil, but wouldn't leak it. This guy claims that the head on the truck is new, however the valves seem to have a lot of build up on them. I have read of people having problems with new heads bought off ebay, the chinese ones. I attached some pictures and can take more. I know the obvious answer of getting a machine shop to check everything and make sure it is in spec, but maybe someone else could shed some light into my situation. Remember this head supposedly has less than 10k on it, and why do the valves get worse front from to back?
This is a picture of the worst valve, I think it was even leaking oil.
