86 yota

i have a 86 yota pickup and the battery light and brake like will come on if the truck goes past ideal. Then it makes the volt gages go to the top. If i turn my head lights and heater on the lights turn off. What would cause this? I was thinking it had something to do with my altnator.

i just made a similar post and it turned out that the ground on my alt was loose. but it sounds like your alt is going bad. Get it tested at your local parts store or if you got a meter do it yourself. you can also just replace the brushes and it will be like new. good luck

i dont think the brushes is your problem, if it was it wouldnt charge at all. it sounds like your voltage is too high? You could go to the auto electrical rebuilder shop thats in south wenatchee, by the bridge, they can proabably help you and give you what you need.

and if your more specific to your problem in the title, more people will respond usually.
