86 V6 rear differential upgrade.

I'm planning on upgrading the rear diff to a V6 housing with associated internals.

I'll build the differential, the removal and replace, so no parts from old diff will be in new diff.

I've found that the new Ring and Pinions are now 29 spline rather than the old 27 splines.

I've searched, and can find no mention of the oil slinger; either on forums or by anyone trying to sell a retrofit kit for the 29 spline pinion.

Would I need the older 27 spline oil slinger (does it fit in the housing and on the 29 spline pinion) YSPBF-026 or the 29 spline oil slinger YSPBF-027 (does it fit in the older rear V6 housing) ?

thanks

Check on gearinstalls.com for all your questions. I believe you'll just have to drill out the oil slinger to fit the 29 splines.

Oil slingers are only needed on High Pinion applications I believe.

Care to elaborate? I recently broke into 2 diffs, did my work and put them back together. I've never heard of an oil slinger. I, and probably many others, would like to know what you're talking about.
