burning oil = blue smoke

too much fuel = black smoke

so i'd say your burning oil and have a different problem.

blue smoke means your burning oil, which means your going to need to do a rebuild.

This is quite possible. The extent of the rebuild will depend on a couple of symptoms. When does it smoke? Consistently or for only a short time of driving after start up? And, have you pulled the plugs and PCV to check their condition? The plug/s may be fouled and the PCV valve may be soaked with oil.

i just put the moter in 10000 miles ago the code is 11 i left the oil cap off and my wife drove it to work and back 50 miles would have this hurt anything ?

Code 11 for the main relay or ingition circuits = loss of power supply to ECU.
Check your code again.......unless you're having that problem, too?

Leaving the cap off wouldn't hurt anything unless your motor oil dumped all over the motor and it ran real low. It would run badly, though.

10k miles ago? Was the motor a rebuild, and did you run the engine through a proper break in procedure to seat the rings? Or was it a used motor?

yes i did the break in from my book code 11 is a tps so im going to try that any other ideas?

Right. I suppose it depends on if the code is a one digit or a two digit code 11. A one digit code 11 would make more sense.....that little detaill escaped me.

However, the TPS would have nothing to do with burning oil. So, you're sure the color of the exhaust is blue? I ask because a TPS problem would cause the motor to run rich, but the exhaust would be more of a blackish color (even a lighter blackish) and smell more like fuel and not oil.

Also, did you check the PCV valve and plugs, yet? If you're burning oil, you should have signs of blow-by and/or fouling plugs.

it is a grey black smoke and you can smell fule the plugs where black soot smell fule changed tps still the same will check egr any other ideas.

I bet you're just running rich. I'm wrong if you find blow-by....and oh well, I'm wrong. BUT! Just because you replaced the TPS doesn't mean you've addressed the circuit. In other words, you may have an issue with the wiring which you can test with a voltage meter at the ECU....making sure the signal is actually getting there.

Run the TPS test at that location as you normally would at the TPS itself. However, you only need to check the idle setting....IDL-E2. The rest, disregard for now.

Incidentally, did you test the original TPS before you replaced it?
