86 toyota 22r. runs bad after new dist.

Hello,

New to the site but I have used it quite a few times. I am working on a 86 4x4 truck with a stock 22r. I replaced the distributor and it ran fine. I decided to set the timing with a light. So I pulled and plugged the vac advance lines. When I tried to hook them back up the truck stutters and dies. I can keep it running if it is revved up a bit. I am trying to understand what could have happened just by pulling the lines and replacing them. with the vac lines disconnected it runs fine. Any help would be awesome. I am a Toyota freak and don't like being stumped by this. Really like the forum. Lots of info here.

Thanks

Only thing I can think of is the vacuum line have been reversed.

Or you may have caused a tear in one of them.
