86 SA 4runner, 83 truck springs in the front?

Some have seen my build thread for my 86 4runner. I wasnt quite happy with the shackle the angle the front had when I was done but I had hoped it would settle as I was told that 3" TG springs settle a lot. My front hanger bar is mounted flush and my shackle tube jigs were set as far forward as possible when we burned them in. Even after several trips to RC in pa the shackles were still fairly vertical. Last season (now the 2nd season on the leafs) I opted to pull one of the leafs out of the pack. I believe it might have been the 3rd leaf if I remember correctly. This brought the truck down 1.5" or so and definitely relaxed the angle to maybe a 15-20* angle or so. The truck wheeled better being lower, however, the front is so soft now I smash the bump stops over the littlest bumps and its mega annoying. I can basically slam the brakes hard and smash the bumps stops...it bottoms out on drive way aprons.

My friend Adam has an 85 and his shackle angle is also terrible and he started this thread here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f115...e-help-246074/ I know the solid axle frames are different then the IFS frames. From what I under stand, the 83 truck springs are longer towards the back therefore increasing the shackle while have the centering pin in nearly the same location that I have now.

What I want to know, can I use these leafs in my truck as well? We found someone who has a new set of 4 that we can get for a deal.

I dont want to use RUFs from an 86 because that will push my axle forward more and I will definitely have to relocate the steering box which I am trying to avoid. I am looking to try and keep the axle right where it is (currently slightly pushed forward but no steering issues) while try to obtain a 30* + shackle angle and not have the truck bottom out over pebbles.

I can take pics of my angle and steering if anyone needs references.

Thanks
Mike
