Thumbs down '86 4x4 22R Ignition Module?

So ever since my truck died two weeks ago, I've been working through all the possible causes for it NOT getting any spark. I needed to change the plugs anyway, so I did that. I checked for spark but pulling a plug wire... nothing. So then I pulled the coil wire from the distributor... still no spark. Sooo... I figured the coil has died (it was the original one). Replaced that and still nothing. Checked the dist. cap and rotor, and they're in good shape.

Now I'm to the ignition module. Could this thing die? I checked all the wires running to it and they all seem to be sound, with no cuts, slices, corrosion at junctions. I've been looking around at new modules and they're friggin' expensive! Not really in the mood to spend between $330 and $450 for one, so is there any way to test mine to see if it has, in fact, bit the big one? If it has, does anyone know the best place to pick one up that's cheaper?

Thanks for the help!

I have a good friend who is parting an 86, and I saw the module in it just the other day!

Have you checked the pick up coil in the distributor ?, if it goes bad you get any spark.

No, I haven't done that. I replaced that whole assembly just at a year ago, so I figured there'd not be any problems with it. Guess I'll check that out, too, just in case!

Mister -- How much does he want for it? lol

Ignition modules rarely go bad, imho. Most likely another culprit.

At one point, the AFM killed my spark. Unplugging the AFM restored spark! (That was after I bought a used $70 module.)

Are you throwing any codes?

Codes? HAHA! The truck's an '86... no computers in there at all!
