So I bought an 86 4runner in great condition. The tailgate was giving me some problems and making a terrible rubbing noise when opening and closing. After looking under the truck at the problem, there are two pieces of a plastic bracket thing that is broken/missing and the long U shaped metal piece that assists the tailgate opening and closing properly is rubbing against the under carriage. I can't figure out what this plastic piece is called or what exactly it did to prevent the rubbing. I want to fix this problem before it turns into a rust problem! Help?
