EFI fuse is behind the kick plate on the driver side. Its clearly marked. As far as other things to check, the engine only needs few things to work: fuel, spark, compression. Check compression. Check for spark. If those are good then it's fuel. It is usually not fuel though.
I have your same truck and I have been through it all. Feel free to keep those questions comin'.

You can pull the distributor cap and check it for cracks or carbon. Just two bolts hold it on. Pull it off and look at it. Its more likely to be something else, but it is worth checking. You can rule most electrical stuff if you are actually getting spark i n the cylinder, so check that first. Some of my fellow Yotatecher's might disagree with this method, but pull one of the plug boots and hold it like a centimeter away from the valve cover or something metal. Have someone else crank the engine for a second, it you see spark then your getting spark. Do that with all four. Only takes a few minutes. Then come on back.
The more appropriate way is to go to auto parts store and get a spark tester for like ten bucks.

With the fuel pump issue (as discussed on the web page I posted earlier), starting can be intermittent. Mine acted up for a bit, then worked and so on until I finally hardwired the jumper. Some years later, I pulled the jumper and found it was working fine and has been doing that ever since.

My 86 4runner started doing the same thing sometimes it would start sometimes not. After testing everything it turn out to be the relay under the dash on th right side up behind the glovebox.
