86 22re Coolant Temp sensor volcano!

I have the 86 and just noticed something weird, the wire was broken off the top of the sensor, but temp gauge still worked, so we'll see, I just fixed it, maybe that will make my check engine light so away, no a/c and never was, wishful thinking since I was getting code 12?
