86 22re

recently bought a 4x4 86 22re 133k miles i want to rebuild it and add a turbo any suggestions, without having to blow a ton of g's was thinking of a garrett t3, what mods should i do to the engine.

around 5 or so is fine i herd the garrett t3 is good but what mod's and things will i have to do to the 22re?

the stock 22re ECU and engine block should be able to compensate for about 5-6 PSI boost, if you draw through the stock AFM and have no vacuum leaks and retard the timing appropriately. You'll prolly see only about 30 hp (at best) over stock though. You'll likely be retarding the timing too much to realize as much power as is possible from the setup though.
Unfortunately, the stock 22re ECU is not capable of dealing with much more airflow over stock, so an aftermarket air/fuel/timing management solution would be worth the cost.

what would you recommend with the rebuild of the engine to manage more then 30 hp of the turbo and pickup more power for around $3 grand or less, name what you would do.
