85 front driveshaft on my 2nd gen rear?
Hey, I've lifted the rear of my truck and read a bunch about the angles and how to correct them. It's quite a bit of lift in the rear and causes some vibrations and moaning when coasting. I've read about changing the links, but I've also read about using the front driveshaft off of an 85 runner. I've read about it, but only found bits and pieces. Can someone please explain it all to me as far as what is needed, what it'll do, and if it's even possible. Thanks

They talk about putting a front d-shaft to the rear cause the front one on an 85 has the better angle cv joint that will take 35 degrees max, as opposed to the 86+ front d-shaft that will only take 25 degrees. The front d-shaft has a cv joint whereas the stock rear d-shaft is not...so the cv takes the increased angle better.

I think I read that part...thanks for chiming in wabbit. I thought it had to be lengthened and you had to use the mounting plate from the transfer case on the 85?...I just wanted to get the full run down on it cause I'm looking at doing it on my truck.

You need the output flange from the front t-case output. Some people have drill the original rear one with success. Just do it 1/8 out of it.
I went with t-case front output flange.
Get it lenghten and balanced...do not take them apart after balance unless you mark them first.

I'm assuming I'll need to calculate the amount that it needs to be lengthened...right?....thanks anthony....so if I just get the front d shaft and output flange it should just bolt right up after I get it lengthened?....
