85 22r into a 94 chassis
Hello,
First post. I have a project I want to complete with my son and need some clarity on a few items. Thank you.
Scenario:
We have a 94 with a 22re that has a thrown rod, I suspect, We plan on pulling this motor out for future work.
I also have a 85 with a 22r that runs well, burns some oil, but the body is getting rusty.
We plan to pull the 22r out of the 85 and put into the 94.
85 info:
22r stock. It has been desmogged, egr removed, as many vacuum lines removed as possible, stock carb replaced with a weber, a replacement distributor I got at LC Engineering.
Questions:
The weber has a fuel pressure regulator. Can I keep the existing in tank fuel pump that the 94 uses?
I realize I will remove the mechanical fuel pump from the 85 motor and add a block off plate. The eccentric will remain on the cam shaft as I see no harm in that.
Will the electrical connection to the 94 distributor work, fit, operate properly or is a distributor exchange necessary?
Using the EFI off the 94 is an option but it is not a system I am familiar with. Would I just change out the intake manifolds and all the connected gizmos if I wanted to keep the EFI?
Thank you for any help and directions, corrections.
Dennis
