Before you can fix it you need to find out just what the problem is.
Is it just happening since the body lift??
Has it been happening for some time now??
It can be the shifter hitting the floor.
it can be worn bushings in the shifter.
It can be a bearing going in the transmission

Low Range sells a Trail Gear heavy duty shift spring that helped mine a lot. My 89 has a 2" body lift and the shifter boot is putting forward pressure on the shifter lever then it would kick out of gear when I went to shift. PO had cut the boot out to keep it in gear but I wanted something besides a big hole in the floor. I have a 96 Tacoma I'm taking parts off of and the shifter boot on it was about 1" longer so I installed it which helped some but it took the new springs to keep it in gear.

Thanks for the respones. I took the boot off and found the metal had been cut, shifter was getting caught by pressure of the boot. I cut the boot and installed a universal, now shifts good. Im still gonna check out those springs at low range offroad. Thanks!!
