Question 4x4 calipers on 2wd ??

There might be some info on this around here but i havent been able to find it. So my question is is there a posability that i can swap 4x4 calipers on a 1988 2wd pick up? And if yes is it a straight bolt on? would i have to change the master cylinder and lines? Any help would be appriciated.

2wd calipers(1 piston) use caliper slide pins the caliper actually moves to apply pressure and mounts on a caliper mounting bracket, the 4wd caliper(4 piston) is statonary and mounts directly to the spindle the pistons move the pads on the pad slide pins.

I can measure the distance between the two bolt holes on my 4wd and get back to you.

great... as long as their the same i will go out and find me some calipers... if anyone has the 2wd calipers.. they know how much crappy stopping power they have.

ive seen 2wd trucks that upgrade their master cylinder to 4x4 ones... so thats a given i think i will.

They are not the same. You will not be able to bolt them on, without serious modifications. The 4x4 calipers are MUCH larger, and the bolt holes are spaced larger than the 2wd.

I can lock up all 4 wheels...their is NO chance of stopping any faster other than ABS, so how would a bigger master cylinder/caliper help???
