From: milwaukee, WI baby muddin in the streets!!
ok flamers get ready as your all not going to like this mine i keep the front hubs locked now that its winter and theres snow everywhere

on the freeway ive done 75-80mph and shifted on down into over drive no problems and ive done 110mph in 4hi in the summer a few times racing a even slower honda lol

and now in my newerish dd the hubs are always locked and i go from 2hi to 4hi all the time all i do is push the clutch down and go just make sure your wheels are spining the same speed or youll mess alot of things up

oh and if your going from 4hi back into 2hi make sure the shifter is as far left as it will go or youll find nutral very fast and them have to stop to get it back into gear lol

Yeah I can switch on the fly I just wasn't pulling hard enough. What's the actual technique to taking it from 4hi to 2hi. Sometimes I can't get it to switch. The lever will move but the light won't go off and it stays in 4x4. I'm pretty sure I'm just not doing it right.

Same, the light does go off tho, i just have to slow down, or take a corner, or move the wheel left and right slowly.

I'm not 100% sure but I'd say you can shift on the fly to 4hi and back to 2hi because toyota always sets up their trucks that way. The easiest way to know is to try it. If it works then it works. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. End of story.
