"4Tops" 4Runner softops? (pics added)
Has anyone ever heard of/owned/seen a 4Tops soft top? I just bought a used 4Tops top for my '86 4Runner. I had never heard of the brand before, and a quick google pulled up nothing. I've heard of Canback, Kayline, Softtopper, and a couple others, but not 4Tops.
I haven't installed it yet, but it's supposed to be in good condition and the side window patterns are supposed to mimic the hard top windows. The whole top folds back quickly like a convertible top, but the sides do not roll up (only downside). There's also no drilling other than mounting the bracket on the tailgate. The sides mount using the factory holes.
pics added (top is dirty, but oh well. Good enough for pics):

I SAW it before I bought it--it just wasn't physically on the vehicle at the time. It looked like a decent top, and it was a LOT cheaper than the $1,300+shipping canback. So yes, spur of the moment purchases are quite useful especially since I am not interested in dumping a lot of money into this vehicle.

hey man you never know somebody has to buy it first and have the balls, and guess what thats the guy that gets it for 10x cheaper than everybody else because its not popular yet
or you might just get ripped off and end up with a peice of junk that ends up doing nothing but taking up space in your storage shed

I'll get some pics, possibly by the weekend. I haven't had any time to put it on yet, and the weather has been pretty darn stormy anyway. If the weather would actually clear up tonight, I'd start as soon as then.
If I don't like this 4tops top, I will end up attempting to get a Softtopper brand. I had my mind set on a Softtopper anyway, but I have not been able to get one. The company put a bunch on Ebay about a month ago and were supposed to list some more a few weeks ago but never did. I've sent them a few messages through eBay and they never responded (and I basically gave up and bought this other top for now). Tops don't last forever either, and I might get a Softtopper anyway.
At a minimum, if I hated this 4tops brand, I could tweak it and turn it into a bikini top. Either way, I don't feel I'm at a loss with it and got it for a good price. I was merely curious if anyone else has ever owned one or at least heard of it.

added photos to original post up top. As you can probably see in the close up pic, the top was made in Anaheim, CA. Perhaps Mickey Mouse himself built it, but perhaps someone will actually recognize this top. It certainly installs easily enough. I only had to drill a few holes on the top of the tailget to mount the bracket that the bottom of the rear window snaps on to.

I don't know if you looked into it or not, but I also make a soft top for 4Runners. Check out my site www.killertoytops.com. If you decide against the Softopper, drop me a line and I will hook you up...

i just bought one myself and the one i got is the first one made, a guy named fritz custom made these tops and they look to be of a great qaulity, the one i have has a bikini top option and you can roll the whole op down and it folds into a bag that stays mounted onto your tailgate, the thing i like about it the most is that you dont have to drill into your sides because it comes wit aluminum rails that mount right to your holes where your hardtop mounts and then you just snap the top on, you put 4 self tapping screws into your tailgate for the bag option and that is it, i have seen alot of softops and i think this is a much better top by far.

The Softtopper ones are on Ebay right now too:
I have been seriously considering a new top for mine for the summer months, and the price on the softopper ones is decent enough for me to seriously consider it. I would love to know how well these tops actually seal though.
