4Runner Tailgate Question

Can a 2nd gen (92 model) 4runner tailgate fit on a 1rst gen (89).

A 1st Gen gate will not fit on a 2nd Gen 4Runner.

@ DC: i've always wondered this myself. have you attempted this swap unsucessfully? what's the difference: width, or latch hardware? i was always hoping it was just a different outer skin in case i ever needed one.

a pickup tailgate will fit in a 4runner though, if it's same version, right?

No, pickup tailgates do not fit on 4Runners, and vise versa.

AS for 1st to 2nd gens, the width, latch style, window curve, etc etc are completely different.

Hey I'm doing so body work on my 1992 toyota 4runner, and i need to take the tailgate off, Anyone have any advice as to how to take it off and put back on somewhat easily?
