4runner stereo

My 4runner has the factory double DIN stereo with cassette. I want to install a singel DIN Sony stereo i ahve at my house. I know crutchfield sells the little plastic cubby to eliminate the space. But will a factory cubby also be used instead of the crutchielf one? Or will it only work with a toyota that originally had the single DIN factory stereo?

You can get those kits from Walmart for just around $10. They come with the brackets to hold the cubby in place. Not sure about the factory cubby?

crutchfield is the bomb. i ordered from there, free shipping, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, and saved 20 bucks becuase of a referral.

my best guess is that you take out the whole stereo (factory cubby too), put in the cubby, and on you go :]

if toyota makes a plastic cubby plastic piece than give it a try. all of the other veichles i have put a stero in have always had a aftermarket fit kit. which takes a double din to a single din. i actually see them conveiant and nice to have.

Yup Crutchfield is an evil palce to shop, they have it all. They supplied me for my 89 pickup when i ahd it I will try wally world for the cubby, since i already ahve a stereo i dont need to go crutchfield. I have my wifes factory stereo from her 2006 altima, i am gonna see if maybe that will fit since it is a double DIN but it is slightly curved at the face, and am not sure it will fit right
