My Volvo 850 has been doing this as well(but since it isn't a toyota, and I don't enjoy driving it, its getting sold). The best thing to do is go out and buy a set of spark plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor. Also use some dielectric grease on the connector going to the distributor cap, and the spark plug wires (including the one coming from the coil).

Dont understand the codes though, "one digit" "two digit"

hmmmmm, I know my '86 just flashes and you gotta count the blinks. It's not a "number" thing.

In this "read me", it says a bunch of stuff about flashes and spaces between them... and mine went on forever!

hmmm, well I'd pull the EFI fuse for a 60 seconds or so to clear the codes. Then try and start it again. Did it just flash forever with no breaks in it?
