4lo won't stay locked in position??

Hey Guys,

I cant figure out why my 4runner won't stay locked in 4lo...my lever won't even push it far enough to lock it into 4lo , I can go underneath and push it and it will engage, then once I hit a bump it throws it self out of 4lo and into 4h...its weird all the bushing look good on the linkages and no play...is it possibly just the shift lever?? What do you guys think? Thanks

Could be bent linkages. Disconnect it, put the lever locked to position and adjust.

mine did the same thing after i'd had a wreck. this was years ago. the t/c linkage...whatever that C shaped thing is called/can't remember.... on the t case was bent.
