4 wheel drive slips in L1

I finally have my 4runner on the road! it's a 93 with a freshly rebuilt 3.0 with duel exhaust, a freshly built A340H tranny and transfer case, urethane suspension, new brake system all new engine accessories including a new a/c unit, new window motors, new locks, new hitch, freshly re-balanced drive shaft with new u joints and resealed differentials.
Everything has been rebuilt or replaced.
All issues have been worked out except when in 4 wheel drive it seems to be slipping. I have engagement and it does work, but when I went up a small hill about half way up it just lost all grab, the engine seen to loose all power and I had to back down.
I set up the friction plates at .100 in clearance, the Toyota manual says spec is max .120 in, min .090 in which I personalty think is to much clearance.
I'm not real clear what the solenoid on the valve body does but I have an extra valve body and solenoid. According to the manual it should work, but I haven't rebuilt a transfer case before and figure there must be some tricks to the Toyota units.
Is anyone out there a transmission guy??
Also does any one know why when making a hard turn in 4 wheel drive the front CV joints seem to bind up?
would appreciate any input!

What do you mean by lose power?
Does the engine lose rev's or do the rev's remain the same but you stop going forward.

If you try to turn on a high traction surface in 4wd it will bind.

Thanks, it's good to know the cv thing is normal since they are all new.
The power issue, it's hard to explain, but here go's, when I move up a hill it seems like the tranny is trying to slip to let the engine increase in speed but the engine rpm starts to go down to the point where the engine starts bogging down. At the point of bog the engine will not increase in rpm no matter how much peddle I give it. It had a new converter in it, but the converter was defective and wouldn't lock up, so I changed it with a new high stall one. I think the first one may have been for the four cylinder version since the stall seemed to be at 1100 rpm. I haven't been off road with the new converter yet, but the 4 wheel drive feels the same as before on flat land. I am hopeing there could be something I missed that would not require pulling the transfer case,it's so messy in the vehicle and I have already had this trany out 5 times for modifications. I do have a doner tranny for parts.

Are you sure the transfer case is shifting into low range?

Low gear

I am new to 4 wheel drive, so I am not sure of anything. I am fairly sure it is, I can feel it shift and the gearing is super low like a top speed of 5 to 10 mph when in low. Also when on a rack the front wheels are turning.

I was asking because, if it was stuck in 4 hi, you would definitely bog down on a steep hill.

I sounds like you are in low range though. Although, top speed should be closer to 30+mph in low range if the transmission is shifting up to 4th gear properly. I'm wondering if your transmission is stuck in something like 2nd gear when you are in low range. I don't know much about the automatic transmission and electronically controlled t-case. Mine is all manual.

A good running 3.0 shouldn't be bogging down on a hill with the transmission in low gear and the t-case in low-range. The tires should slip well before that assuming you're on dirt or gravel.

low gear

Yes , about 30 if in L1 and D, I was saying 10 in L1 and 1st on the other shifter.
I haven't tested it yet, but I am hoping it was just the old converter. I think maybe the stall speed was to low for the 3.slow v6 at 1100 rpm. the new converter is a 2200 rpm stall, but I have no where to test it around here. That's why I am trying to weigh all the possibilities before I go off road.
