81 Toya, sorry to hear. I know how that feels.. same experience as I mentioned with steering gear. Iv never been succesful at rebuilding a hydraulic item yet (shocks on bike, hydraulic ram, steering gear) lol. I need a win soon. But dont get to frustrated its only 20 bucks and you learned your limits.

I just did mine yesterday with the auto zone kit and haven't seen it leak yet...I replaced the o ring around the back plate as well as the front shaft oil seal. I filled it up with some Lucas ATF and it seems like everything's back to how it should be. That liltteC shaped retainer ring for the backing plate was a bitch to put back in lol....what kind of fluid did you use? Where's the leak coming from?
