Angry 3vze persistant code 41

My 5 sp 4runner keep throwing a code 41 aka tps code. I have replaced the tps twice one with used another new both set to factory specs from fsm. after restting and tet driving a good 50 miles then checking for codes there will be none but say i come back to start it a few hours later the cel comes on with code 41. this has happened three times now and i need the cel gone for smog and sale. Really need help I'm stumped and this thing has just shot my nerves.

So many get a Code, read the first word of the description of the Code ("tps code"), and then think they have just been instructed to replace one specific part. Like a big Lego.

So what is Code 41?
"Open or short detected in throttle position sensor signal (VTA) for 0.5 sec. or more.
IDL contact is ON and VTA output exceeds 1.45 V"

While that can certainly happen inside the TPS itself, I suspect you have a short or open in your wiring. Either in the VTA line, or a short in the IDL line.

I'd put my voltmeter on VTA, and watch for 12v (open) or zero(short) as I moved the throttle and wiggled the harness. I might need to do the same with IDL.

You can use this cheap setup to monitor voltages while driving. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...icator-303218/ (Hook the sense lead to VTA or IDL)
