Looks like the cam seal. Take the top timing belt cover off and check around the timing belt pulley on that side.

Cam seal OR front part of the valve cover where it mates with the front cam housing. FIPG for valve cover cam area, cam seal for cam.

Just think of it as the motor looking out of the front end by keeping it from rusting. Its sweet really.

yeah its toyotas anti rust antisieze function. No other brand has this unique feature. jk, chances are its valve cover leak. And it looks like it was leaking all the way down. i would pull the timing belt cover and check the timing belt make sure its not covered in oil.

Looks like a bad power steering pump seal.

My guess would be the cam seal and from the looks of it you're timing belt will need to be replaced soon.

Thanks guys. I'll be taking some of the covers off shortly to have a better look, in the meantime I'm getting the old one ready to be pulled out, short of actually lifting it out, since I will have to rent a lift.

I'll post the result of where its coming from soon.

good call on the ps pump. forgot about those leaky bastards being bolted on right there.

Interesting. If it the PS pumo then I don't need to worry cuz mine doesn't leak.

I was kinda leaning towards that as the spot is right where it is.

I didn't even think of that on my first post. The 4 runner I have now is actually the first one I have had without a leaking ps pump. If you want to be extra sure, I would still pull the upper timing belt cover and make sure the belt is not covered in oil.

I will def. make sure. The last thing I want is to do any major work on the engine after I put it in.

Yea i would think thats dirty ps fluid from back in the day that was slinging right there.

Looks like it was a combination of PS pump, and valve gasket gone bad. It's dry inside.
