3vze odd idle, need help

So, I recently did a bunch of work to a 3.0 and I'm having some issues with idle, possibly timing. It got new freeze plugs, new water pump, new oil pump, head gaskets, seals on injectors, valve seals, thermostat, upper engine gaskets, timing belt, tensioner, oil pan seal, NGK spark plugs, starter, and an EGR delete. The engine starts, runs high, then mellows out. When it kicks down the idle from a high idle it runs rough. It also pops a little. I've checked for air leaks with starting fluid, checked my distributor position to TDC and 180 out. I'm planning on going through all of the vacuum lines again before I take the timing cover back off to take a look at the timing belt to see if it jumped a tooth. I've read through a bunch of 3vze timing and idle posts on here without much help, many of them don't appear to be answered of or responded to. Any real input would be helpful.

Are you sure that you did the EGR delete correctly? I know that the EGR could cause issues like that. Try the paperclip trick in your diag box in the engine bay and see if you have any codes flash on your dash. I believe if its a 71 its the EGR. I would look the codes up though just to be safe.

loose bolt on the former egr modulator mount. I ran the bolt in without knowing it was a passage into the upper intake manifold, sucking in air around the bolt
