3vze first timer

I just replaced a timing belt on a friends 94 4runner 3vze. Its my first time ever even touching a 3vze. so i buttoned everything back up, and now it runs like crap. it will idle, very poorly though. it produceds alot of black smoke. alomst raw gas smell. it'll burn your eyes. if i didnt know better id swear ive got the spark plug wires all crossed up. but they are where they are supposed to be. im not an expert by anymeans but this aint my 22r. ive never had any difficulties working on it. where should i start? thanks.

Are you sure you didnt get one of the cams off a tooth?

Did you time it?

to run like that you have bad timing belt timing cause there is no reason to pull the distributor

yea it is gay when you have to back track what yea did

maybe you got the lower pulley off by tooth that is what i am thinking cause the timing to be way off

easy way to find this out is Peace of wire and top dead center tdc and the piston still has some movement you off by 1 tooth on the lower cog or some thing
