I'll definitely investigate and research this. I've located a 97 3.4 with harness/computer but it does not have a transmission/tcase. I'll have to find out if I can mate it to the 3.0's tranny..so lots more research to do.

Go to the off road tech/fab shop, go to engine swap talk, 3.4 swap and read the stickies!

believe it or not, I am swapping in a 22re and suspension parts from another 4runner I have.
It's not a straight forward and many wouldn't bother, but for $$$ it's way cheaper considering that I have a complete donor truck.

The engine/trans/xfer case/computer has been pulled from the donor. The recipient will get the full driveline.

There are some differences that would scare some people away.
-engine mounts are further forward (cutting/welding/fabbing involved)
-power steering is not the same, have to take donor's
-exhaust downpipe is not the same
-auto to manual (going to be drilling the firewall and adding clutch pedal)
-...

The donor has detroit lockers with 5.29 gearing, hd coil springs and hd torsion bars..they're coming too.

-so far it's just a lot of manual work

I will try to document the progress in the swap forum soon
wish me luck

Is the t100 a 3.4? If the runner is a 3.0 you're in luck. Motor mounts right up use the same trans and bell housing I believe. It's the easiest swap I hear. The 3.4 is a bored out 3.0 there is very minimal fab work from what I hear the biggest pain is swapping the wire harness.

no, the t100 is a 3.0, and I'd rather have the 22re than the 3.0

22re isn't super powerful, but with the right gearing it's pretty fun

Well you can do anything and make something fun. That 3.slow t100 motor is a short stroke motor. Put a long stroke kit on it and you'll probably cream your pants. Haha :-) gearing can be a pain in the ass too. I'd do the swap. Many things you can do. I want a 50/50 water methanol kit on my truck. The best bang for your buck depending on the motor you can get 30-40 more hp.

I don't have a 3.4 but I do have the complete 22re driveline and donor truck. It's almost in.

Here is your problem with the swap. You have incompatible ECU wiring. Unless you are entirely sure of your ability to mate the two wiring systems of the engine and chassis. Fix the 3.slo. We know the 3.slo works, the T100 engine is not a 3.slo, if you are lucky its a 3.4 but I bet its not. Since you admit to inexperience you have little choice but the safe route of fixing the 3.slo, and while you are in there buy an ARP stud kit and a set of headers for it. Expect to buy replacement heads since yours may be irreparably warped.
