3VZE to 22RE swap
I've searched, but want to verify this. From what I've read, it is not possible to bolt on a 22RE to a 3VZE manual transmission, and it won't bolt on to the existing motor mounts.
Can someone please clarify this? I have the opportunity to get a 22RE, complete with the wiring harness and ECU.
My 4x4 Extra cab originally came with a 3VZE and a manual tranny.

My truck has that swap, but I don't know a whole lot of what went into it since I bought it the way it is. I do see he had to weld the 22RE motor mounts onto the 3.0 motor mounts. I can take pictures if you want. Not sure if the 3.0 tranny works with the 22RE or not.

You can buy a r151f tranny bellhousing to mate the two but your stock r150f bellhousing will not bolt up. Give marlin a call maybe he could sell you one. As for mounts youll need to make your own because it is true they are different. Also i hope you know how to wire because youll need to redue the engine to body harness in order to make it work

Here's 2 pictures I took of the driver side mount from different angles. The pics aren't the greatest since it's kinda hard to get in by them to get a good shot.
View from driver's front wheel well:
View from underneath front of truck:
As you can see the 22RE mounts are a couple inches more towards the front of the truck than the V6 mounts.

Motor mounts are very different, if you dont believe, then go ahead and drop a new engine in there so I can laugh at you. Radiator is different, shroud is different, power steering lines are different, ac lines are different, tranny is different, fuel lines are all different, have a good time with that, I rip out 4 cylinders and put in V6's, done three so far, never been happier with a rig since the 22re was out of them, more power, more reliable, easier for me to work on but then again I am a mechanic.

if your truck is still running, then why even bother?
it's going to be more work than it's worth, and it will ruin your resale value, because nobody likes to end up with...............um........a hack job swap
how many miles are on the 22-RE? Do you know for certain that there is nothing wrong with it? ever heard it run?
I ask these questions because sometimes "a good deal" mearly means that it's not worth anything unless the guy selling it can convince you it is
If it really is a good deal, and you know what you are getting, then go ahead an buy it, and then find a truck with a blown motor, one that actually came with that engine, and replace it, you'll wind up with two rigs and (hopefully) neither will be a hack job
the amount of money/time/frustration that you put into trying to get a 22-RE into your truck will never be repaid in the mileage/reliability gains, which are minimal at best

then buy another V6. if anything buy a 3.4. way too much work to swap out the harnesses and crap
*edit* what i meant was if you're gonna swap harnesses anyway, go with the 3.4. sry, not fully awake

This is like what happened to me....kind of. A friend gave my wife her '92 4rnr. The motor (3.0) had been completely rebuilt. After 21k miles, a rod or bearing cap (not really sure what) gave out, but the top end was still great. So, I bought another "complete" rebuilt for less than what it would have cost to have the original motor re-rebuilt. 3k miles later, the "new" one burned a valve and the cams and journals were scored beyond repaired. The top end was just not done right. SOOOO......I took the original top end and put in it on the "new" bottom end and now have a good working motor. I still came out little less than I would have getting the original motor rebuilt.
Since you have a good top end already, find a complete bottom end or a complete motor with a bad top end and you're in business, eh?
