3vze-22re
my buudy wants a 95 limited with 4 wheel anti lock but doesnt want the v6 . i can find the 22re and 4x4 trans at the junkyard but will it be a bolt in and also for all you cali people will california allow it to be smogged? or will it have to be a newer engine like the 2.7 ?

No its not bolt in.
Different motor mount style and location. Different trans/tcase/d-shaft. different wiring. Why DOWNGRADE to a 22re? Yes, I have a '95 with a 22re. But, having the 3vze (3.0L V6) makes it tons more easier to swap in a 5vzfe (3.4L v6) out of a 3rd gen 4runner/Tacoma/T100. More power and better MPG than the 3vze and 22re. TONS of 3.4L swaps. 3.4Ls are more "bolt-in" then a 22re.
