3VZ-e won't start without gas pedal pressed
I just replaced the fuel injectors on my '88 4Runner (had to search high and low for the low impedance injectors) and now when I go to start it, it just cranks over without catching. If I press the gas pedal down it will eventually start and from there it runs fine. I did have to adjust the idle screw as it was idling at about 450 after the injectors swap, whereas before it was at a solid 850.
It had A LOT of carbon build up in the intake plenum and throttle body so I hand cleaned the throttle body and then used a can of Seafoam after I re assembled everything, but even before the seafoam it had a hard time starting.
I jumped the B+ and FP ports under the diagnostic cap and I can hear the fuel pump running so I know its got fuel.
I am pretty sure I have all vacuum/coolant/fuel lines hooked back up properly but for some reason it still just doesn't want to start without the pedal.
Once the engine starts, it runs perfect and idles great.
The injectors are 4 hole and the ones removed were one hole. Im not sure if they match the flow but would that have anything to do with it?
Pretty much a youtube/google mechanic but I am good with my hands and understand a fair amount about the truck.
From what I understand, pressing the pedal on an EFI just opens the throttle body valve allowing more airflow and doesn't actually give the engine more gas, so it seems air related???
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im used to OBDII junk that nearly tells me exactly whats wrong so this is a whole new world for me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Danny,
Did u have the problem before u replaced injectors?
Why did u replace injectors?
I suggest u check ALL wiring to injectors. Check both sides, posiive and negative and where they all lead to.
If it's anything like the 22RE, there may be splices that easily corrode or break when u move them around.

I replaced them due to a cylinder misfire where my spark and compression was good.
I found that one of my spark plugs was fouled with fuel indicating a stuck open injector. I replaced the new injector with one of my old ones and its back up and running better than before.
Thanks for the replies!
