We pulled a rear diff from a 90 4Runner (V6, auto) for the front of our 85 PU. It was 4.10 gears.
When we did the E-lockers swap, we sold it to a guy that now has it in the rear of his 84 PU.

I have a 92 4x4 3.slow short bed reg cab with 4.30 rear. I couldnt believe it either after all I have read, but when I had my third out I counted the ring and pinion gears 3 times, 10 and 43. 4.30 no doubt. Now I cant be sure this was factory as this truck had 190K miles when I bought it, but it also doesnt appear to have had any maintenence done and the rear was trashed, so i doubt it was anything other than the stock rear. All that being said mine also was one of a few built in a US plant back in 92 according to the vin. FYI.
