3rd member question - 81 into 87 front?

Hi gurus,

Will a 3rd member from a 1981 Toy PU work correctly, with no mods, in a stock 1987 4Runner?

Will the 3rd member from the rear axle of that '81 fit?
This seems to say "no way, dude"

If I'm going from 4 cylinder to turbo truck, do I need to worry about the pinion strength? I read somewhere that there was a difference.

Thanks!
Eric

Are you asking if the front 3rd from a 81 will fit in the front of an 87? The answer is no. The 87 front 3rd is 7.5 IFS. The 81 front should be a straight axle (just like the rear) and that is a 8in. Check out the FAQ or search.

Thanks. I had, but wanted to make sure I was reading it right.

Turbo trucks and runners have the same 3rd as the V6 trucks. They have larger bearings.
