33x10.5's on 15x8?

I'm getting ready to buy new tires... I currently run 33x12.5. I really want something lighter with less rotating mass, but still want the clearance. I'm going to get Dunlop Radial Rover all terrain tires in 33x10.5. How do you guys think having 15x8's with a 10.5 wide tire would be? I'm just worried if I air down my tires while wheeling my bead would break loose. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks!

After the same concern i ended up getting 33x10.50's on my 15X8 rims and would of done it again. I wheeled a few times at 12-15psi with no problems.
When aired down, the width of my tires appeared to be fine. I think you'd like 'em.

Heh, around here that would be considered street pressure I used to run 5 psi in my 31x10x50's on 15x8 aluminum wheels and never lost a bead in the snow.

I really like my setup - 33x10.50 with no lift on stock rims. I would imagnie with just BJ spacers, you rub a little - that won't be a problem with the narrower tire.

I have the Radial Rover RVXT. I'm pretty happy with them. They do great on the street and the snow, and better than I would have thought in the mud. Plus you don't see them on every other truck like the BFG A/T.

Thanks guys! I'm definitely going to go with the Dunlops. I guess I'm somewhat partial... I only bought Dunlop D208's for my motorcycle before...

I hope to be running a set of stock tacoma rims and 33x10.50s w/in the next month. I'm going with the BFG ATs for the local dealer hookup value. I don't know how, but he is getting them for $105 a piece. I think that's a really good deal and can't pass them up. I can't wait !

At least mine got wheeled unlike all those other BFG trucks.

For a DD and part time wheeler, i'd recommended them to anyone. Excellent all around tire. 33x10.50 on 8" wide rims...

I think you will have major problems holding the tire on the rim with only 1/2" difference between the section width and the rim width, plus they will be even shorter (smaller diameter) than normal.

As for what will fit on stock height - need to know more about your truck!

ok..here in europe we run the diesel..so the one im lookin at is a 1995 3.0 Turbo Diesel..but i think it is similar to yours 3.0 petrol..what im after is the chuncy wide look (15x10 mickey thompson classic) but then i am not sure what tires will fit? our 4runners seems to be wide, compared to the us-model..but im not sure..
Thanx in advance

10.50s onan 8" rim is def. fine. I've got 10.50s on a 6" rim and have never popped a tire off, but I don't ever air down either, I've never even tried it to see what difference it makes.

this is said all the time yet i never hear any cases of tires failing. my dad ran 15x10 with 31X10.50 on his 80 toyota and curently is running the same rims(very nice enkie) with 31X10.50s on his 86 4runner. has never once popped a side wall. the old toyota was wheeled a whole lot. earlier in this 4runners life it was wheeled a whole lot as well. ive been some tough, skinny and rocky places with this set up and never had a problem. im not saying that its never happened to anyone just ive never heard any first hand experiences.

i think the wider look is cool too.... especially with some fender flares.
