33x10.50 BFG KM2's installed.

Got my KM2's on today. I'm pleased! They ride extremely well, silent, smooth, soft... heaven compared to the TSL's holy crap! ... so relieved!

33x10.50 R15 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2's

They are a very light tire IMO. It seemed easier to lift these (with wheels) than it did to lift the 32x11.50 TSL SX's that came off the truck which measured closer to 30"

These measure a near true 33" surprisingly. For now the gears are stock 4.10's yet to be on the highway but around town I dont notice any difference, acceleration wise between em and the TSL's. Just a ghostly quiet smooth ride ha! My brain will be happy to know it wont be jarred into jelly every morning anymore! doh

SAS is going under July 25th.. Welded rear, TruTrac front, 5.29's as well.

cellphone video from the other weekend, this was with the TSL's tho. Fun stuff!

Knew someone would mention that Actually it is a DD and I've thought long and hard on the decision. Lucky for me my wheeling buddies have quite the mix of setups for me to 'test drive' My buddy has same rig as mine welded, I was very hesitant but this isn't a permanent deal.. its just a FREE offroad upgrade (the welding). I plan to drop in a Elocker and a highpinion Elocker for the front down the line. The rear Elocker probably will be the first thing done after this SAS.

The welded rear is OK, its actually LESS annoying than the TSL SX's. At first I was ok with the rediculous road comfort they provide haha then it got aggravating, I have a crappy commute now. (yea the welded rear wont make it any more enjoyable) ... but I'm willing to deal with it in the meantime.

Besides, the Detroit another friend is running isn't a whole lot more friendly onroad. You really only notice either around tight corners. ie parking, taking a right turn at a stop light.

if it gets unbearable... its as easy as throwing in a new carrier, bam =D

HaHa, I did have my eyes on the 35x12.5 km2's... infact $100 more would of gotten me them. But, theres actually reason and logic behind the 33's. A) I'm going with 3" springs, Im keeping my rig low. these particular tires are LIGHT. The truck hardly notices they're there with 4.10's.. 5.29's will bring the stock low range down below stock. So I gain some crawl action... but really i retain my power.

YEARS of thought and planning have gone into all these decisions. This SAS has been a dream for 3yrs. Trucks been through A LOT over the years. Lots of time, blood, sweat, research and money have gone in... and experience.

I'm trying to avoid a "build" thread, I'll probably just post a final results...since I dont think anyone cares to see another SAS thread really, its old news.

But I will list some of the stuff the truck has had done to it.

It has a new, restored frame. I did the frame swap in 2007.
As it sits, the front end is completely rebuilt (so what? its getting torched hellyea!) .. but yea new bearings, seals, cv axles, spindle bushings, blah blah

Motor, new head, 260 cam, timing chain, all new seals everywhere, exhaust is completely new as of 2005/06.. forget exactly...., magnaflow muffler. all the exhaust seals (crush ones) have been replaced like 4 times since, LOL .. dont ask. Regardless, no rust or erosion on any of it, i like it clean.. last longer! new fuel pump, carb isnt rebuilt but has had some minor stuff done to it (lil bits here n there like fuel cut off solenoid replaced etc) EGR is gone, that pulsation whatever the hell its called, reed valve all thats gone/removed. only emissions is the Charcoal fuel canister..which knowing how charcoal works.. isnt doing anything

new clutch [well not knew, it now has roughly 30k on a marlin 1200lb clutch, no serious serious wheeling and its beginning to slip - while offroading.. dissapointing], all new clutch hydraulics. Transfercase mounted Driveline brake.

New ujoints.

body lift, 2" ... long story, but im keeping it as im gonna do a drivetrain lift.

REAR axle, completely rebuilt. Chromoly 4340 semi shafts, REAR DISC conversion, atm it has the Detroit TruTrac.

balljoint spacers, rear longer shackles.

lots more, but this is getting to long. bring on the sas!

Yup I know my KM2 35's took very little weight to balance them.
Hell they took as much weight as passenger tires. I have never seen that with muds. I am impressed with mine.
I think they are the most quiet MT tires I have ever run. BFG has come a long way on their design and performance.

Has anybody tried these narrower 33's in the sand? Do they float well on top or dig in? The 33- 12.5 X 15's stay on top great but they are heavy. I think the 10.5 have a stiffer sidewall too.
We have lots of sand down here in Socal

I don't think it's so much that the KM2's are light as the TSL SX's are ridiculously heavy. I always say that people don't realize how spoiled they are by raidal tires until the own a set of bias plys...

The body lift on my rig is a relic of a former machine. Pre-Frame swap, I was trying to figure out why my right front tire just wouldnt align, or for that matter why the front end was so jacked, took the arms off, torsions out.. found out my frame was rolled/bent fromt a previous owner accident. ... couldn't get the right torsion bar back on. So I had to get the body lift or tub the hell out of my passanger foot well (yea not doing that).

im keeping it for several reasons. Makes working on the truck A LOT EASIER.. wow.. and two, gonna do a drivetrain lift. a 1" would be what i'd throw on if i did it again tho.

heres the TSL's

Heres the truck back in 06 with just the body lift and new 31x10.5 Mud Rovers

Ha

It's in OK condition. The paint is completely shot, scratched to hell n back too... and has a multitude of dents.. I added two more the other weekend haha

I plan to sell it when I build my new bed... we'll see if it's sellable by then. I've decided I don't care about it at all anymore.

I like those tires. I'm thinking either KM2's or the regular AT's. BFG seems to be one of the few to make 33 x 10.50 x 15.

Those tires look good.

it sure was! besides the ghetto front bumper, lol.. aka blinker holder thingy all its good for!

wheeling and dumb*** 16 yr olds in 88 Jetta's... who decide to back OUT of Taco Bell drive thru's! ... my biggest ugliest dent is in my driver side cab behind the door.. He backed his car right into me. ugh.. wish he'd just mangled the bed... sigh. $1100 check tho, haha

almost 5 yrs of wheeling and the truck has only minor dents, very minor. I've kept it off tree's, stumps and rocks really well and go all the same places my buddies do, even done a few rock gardens. It just takes me twice as long but I come out the way i went in! =)
