Here's how it sits now. Leaf springs are no longer riding on the overload springs. Don't have any time to explain, but $$33 blue coils from Amazon (delivered) and this is how it sits now. I think I like where it is sitting now.

Tires are next. Leaning pretty hard towards Goodyear 235/75/15 Wranglers......only 70 bucks a tire. Local folk say keep the white raised letters out, but I'm thinking about staying with the blackwall out.

If you are a cheapskate, I did mine for FREE...

Dig around local boards and find a/some guys w/ TJs, one of the first things they do is dump the OE coils.
I picked up a set of all 4 from a guy that jad just put o na lift, he didn't want to bother w/ disposing them. The shorter ones (rear?) are perfect.
The top end is curled in a bit, it will slip/wrap into the upper bumpstop mount on the frame.
You may need to use a cutoff wheel and remove the last 6" or so, just so it has enough room to get in there.

Im also leaning more towards the ZUK mod with TJ coils (97-06) since they fit directly onto the Top (metal) bump stop. Don't need any cutting or welding.

RatLabGuy, I agree the rear TJ coils are better suited than front since the front look too long. Did the rear one snug easily between the rear top&bottom bump stops ?

I would avoid 235's, just will lose a bit of gas mileage. I would go with 265/ 70/15's though, for some nicer height. Here is what white letters look like.


me likey the white letters. As long as they are big, and not just the outline of the letters, but all filled in white.

Which springs did you use? I searched Amazon and couldn't figure it out. Looks like about the right amount of lift. A bit high, but close.

I got mine from these guys, same specs but 150 lbs rated. I woulda liked 100's or 125's better, just for the softer ride. But mine were 30 bucks total, cheap, and delivered fast, and only slightly, very slightly used.

Been out and about and forgot about this thread. Here's the link to the springs I purchased at Amazon. I think they were 33 bucks shipped when I bought them, but their still close to that.

I've just got them sitting in there, which I know, isn't the way to do it. Need to find a way to secure the top of the spring, or, do what I should of done in the first place and track down some of those jeep TJ springs. We'll see.

vmax84 do you have any lift in the front?? can you get measurements front and rear from fender to top of rim?? I did the coil mod and want to see if its comparable to yours or if i need to cut a couple inches off. I need to tighten the torsions to lift the front a bit, mine is raised in the rear now so need to level it out. thanks.

vmax84- I looked at the coils you got....those are the absolute worst coils to get....they have a spring rate of about 400 pounds/inch. They are roughly only 6~8" total length. I had a pair of the "blue ones" also in the early stages of testing the coil concept ( http://gearinstalls.com/helper.htm ) ....ya, they raised the Runner but it rode like a brick.
Get the 12" x 125 pound coils for 75 shipped http://gearinstalls.com/coilinfo.htm and you will get the 2.5" lift or so...and it will have a wonder soft ride. ZUK

I used Fox body Ford (165 lb?) springs and cut them to 10". They slip over the bump stops without hacking. And they were free!
