300 dollar 4runner. What to do?

Well I don't know if it's a score or if I paid for someone's trash but I just picked up this 1990 4Runner auto 4x4 with 4inch lift. Looks like the guy I got it from made it into his own off road rig but I thinks it too far gone for rebuilding. It has a bad bottom end in the motor. So just needs some words of encouragement.

Any truck can be made into something worthwhile with time, money and determination.

You can likely part it out for some small profit, if you want to, guess it depends on your plans.

It does look pretty far gone.

Any lockers to be salvaged??

Ya it looked better in the pictures he sent me. But I couldn't pass it up. I also have a 91 but it is a 2wd auto. Wanted to make it a 4x4 but when I saw how bad this one was I'm starting to think make it run and just tear it up even more lol. Then spare motor and trans for my 91. I just bought it yesterday. I still need to figure out how many parts are missing to make street worthy again and see how much it would cost to make it run and drive. Then I'll see if I'll part it out. Thanks for the reply.

Part it out. Put the money in a jar and when you get it full go buy you a $500 rig that's worth fixing up.

The good thing is that the motor and drive train is all there. 90% interior is gone. Body is mangled. Wiring is cut beyond figuring out where it all goes. I'm still at a toss up. I posted it on Craigslist so if someone wants the major parts I might part it out. I have some old Humvee seats and ammo cans and some left over sheet metal. Maybe I can make it look a little better. Or at least look like a tatacal SUV lmao

My 91 has 240000 this 91 has 193000. So spare motor parts are nice. You never know when the head gaskets are going to go lol

I was thinking of using this as a mock up for a single turbo set up for my 91. I have a Volvo turbo sitting here. Just need some pipe and an inter cooler and timing box maybe get some added power to that 3.slow. Nothing too crazy.

I saw this on CL. Swap things over and make your 2wd a 4x4 or part it out and get a 4x4 in better shape.

If nothing else I see a lot of good parts for $300. I would say that was a score.

It has 300 dollars worth of parts on it for sure. You definately did not make a mistake. And if you find another truck, you have that bracket lift now (if thst sort of lift interests you).
