3 core Radiator

3 core Radiator
First and correct me if am wrong. A 4X4 has a 3 core radiator and a 4X2 has a 2 core radiator.
Now if that is correct, is it possible to run a 3-core in my 4X2 without to many problems?
Thanks.

Some 4x4s had 2 core radiators.
Buy an aftermarket radiator. You can even go to a deeper 3 core. Make sure you measure your core - there are a bunch of different configurations with 22re radiators, not all will work with your fan shroud. You want to keep the shroud.

I had a 16 3/4" 2 core radiator before I did my timing chain. Failing to measure the height, I order a radiator from www.radiatorbarn.com. As a result, I ordered the 2 core 15 3/4" tall radiator.
Have not had any issues with it, but I also don't do a bunch towing other than an occasional lawnmower or some lumber from the local lumber yard.

22RE rad
My '91 22RE Rcab came w/ a 2 row; I replaced it, when it clogged from the PO's use of tap water + never changing the coolant, w/ a 3 row aftermarket; cooling was inferior w/ the 3 row; after 4 years I've gone back to a stock 2 row and it's the best cooling so far; totally level temp regardless of conditions.
