Question 3.4 swap costs?

Hey everyone. I was just wondering what it cost you to do your 3.4 swap. If you could be specific on what it cost to get the 3.4 and and auto trans if you needed or wanted it. I have an 88 4runner 3.0 auto and looking for the 3.4 with auto for the swap obviously. Thanks

The swap kit from ORS would make it the easiest to peform.. from their site $2150.00 ORS-EC022 Auto Transmission. Of course you also need a donor engine. Here is an excellent article from their site to tell you everything you need http://www.offroadsolutions.com/tech...n_kit_auto.htm

When I was getting serious about it last year I was going to take out a loan for 5K to do it. I was also going to SC it with a bunch of other goodies too so that is a bit high but if you get the full kit and a cheap engine your still looking at around $3000 minus labor. Keep in mind this seems like alot but pay to have your head gasket done once or do a complete rebuild on your 3.slow and your looking at the same neighborhood price wise.

The full swap kit from ORS is only around $1500 for the manual

Hey everyone im new very new to this forum and I had a few questions for all you...I just purchased a 90 runner with a blown motor. Im trying to decide if I want to go with the 3.4 swap or just stick another 3L back in it? Besides all the issues with the smog and what not is it common practice to swap the tyrannies to or will the 90 manual tyranny hold the extra power?

thanks for the info guys. Im well aware of the tech article at ORS. And I do know that the manual is cheaper. Cost really isnt an issue for the auto. I just dont want to over pay for something. Besides when your wheeeling, auto is so much more convient. Im just wondering what people paid for the 3.4 and everything to go along with it. Did you peice it together or was it a donor. Im trying to find a donor but they are hard to find.

Thats where your cost adds up. Hopefully you can find a donor truck and buy the whole thing. It's the little pieces you have to keep buying that add up. I have spent a ton more than I initially planned on with my SAS build.

I paid $1600.00 for my 3.4 engine and electrics, etc. from a 1999 Tacoma. If you are serious that $1500.00 for the whole thing offer in your thread is the way to go. Also 1998 is a good year to pick for the conversion. It leaves you full supercharger options including 7th injector if you FEEL the need.
I did my swap this past Dec 06 and love it. I am posted over on 4x4wire.com in 4runner forum under 3.4 swap completed. It can be done pretty reasonably on price. I only used the conversion harness from ORS. Ofcourse you may need some additional parts from them for the auto conversion.
Good luck. You will not be sorry!!! Its a blast. Gas milage is improved 3-5 MPG over the 3.0 I had.
