3/4 Satoshi

Lookin for opinions/ suggestions. Had my grill out today to replace a couple of retaining clips and figured I'd get creative. It's not that I can't do a full grill mod, it's just that I only had a 24" piece of mesh laying around and I wasn't motivated enough to go to the hardware store. Sorry the pic isn't that great, but I just wanted some input.

I've been wanting to satoshi my grill... I would just use the FJ "TOYOTA". I'm just going to use the stock "TOYOTA" on my grill.

hijack...can somebody explain to me where the name 'Satoshi' comes from? Is that the guy who invented this mod? Or a company that offers this grill for sale? Or does it just sound cool but mean nothing?

That's wild. I can't think of another situation where somebody invented such a simple mod and became immortalized by having it named after themselves. Most mods are probably created simultaneously by different people in different parts of the country and/or world. Nobody tries to name any of the other mods. Funny.

Actually... I don't think he named it himself... The mod was given his name by many others.

lemme set the record straight: i named the mod after him. he did not name it after himself

history:

- butnut in HI found the mod. i believe there was one other guy from 4x4 who found the mod about the same time

- butnut was the first person to do it. then i did it. i did the writeup and named it after him. http://www.4runners.org/articles/satoshi/

- calrockx was next to do the mod.

...then everyone else

i wonder how many people have done this mod now?

Thanks Bob_98SR5, looks like the I've got a majority vote of 1 for the entire grill. I'll probably do it soon, mainly did the center to see how easy it would be to do. To cut out the rest will be a piece of cake. Mostly wanted opinions for the mod because I intend to put an ARB on after I check out a used one this weekend. I was thinking it might look ok because the grill guard portion would cover all but the center. I'll post up pics of the install when complete because I went a slightly different route with attaching the mesh.

Graham (4RunnerFever) is still waiting for the "Outback Mod" to catch on like this... I wonder if we called it the "Spann Mod" instead Personally I love it because it makes it much easier to open and close the rear hatch
