3.0 V6 problems
I have a 95 4runner with a 3.0,that has had a 'miss' in it since i got it.it runs great until i rev it up to about 2,500 rpm. then starts the trouble.it starts to spit and sputter.I have tested, replaced, and tried everything i can think of.But i have had no luck getting rid of the 'miss'.Am i missing something instead of the engine?Any advice would be greatly apprieciated.send me an email to mfrench95@yahoo.com thanks

could be the sparkplugs and wires or the AFM sensor maybe its the fuel filter or the o2 sensor there just alot of things that could cause it ..... welcome to yotatech im sure if you search you may find your answer

here is what i have done so far:changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter,Cat,muffler, coil.i have also tested and corrected(where needed) timing, idle speed,EGR operation,ECU,TPS,ignition control mod.,engine vaccum and back pressure, and cleaned throttle body.also,im not sure(this is the only 3.0 i have driven)but it feels like it has a governor on it,like it is restricted.i am lost.where should i go next?

Well, the only other things I can think of:
A problem with the AFM (perhaps a restricted flap), or a problem with the fuel delivery system (injectors or fuel pressure regulator).

even though it looks like the original,I dont have any codes showing up so i guess the o2 sensor is out.how should i go about cleaning the AFM?will it hurt it to spray throttle body cleaner around the flapper door?or better yet,how should i test it?

DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL PARTS CLEANER!
Use ELECTRONIC cleaner (available from Radio Shack). Electrical cleaner will dissolve any plastic parts it comes in contact with. I know with from experience....don't ask! You can also use TB cleaner; I've done it with no problems. Read the container to be certain before you use it!!!

open up your VAFM box, take out the air filter, crank up the engine. While a buddy keeps the revs up to prevent it dying, spray cleaner directly into the intake in the VAFM.
I would FIRST remove the intake tubes & clean thoroughly inside to prevent running all that crap down your intake manifold.

quick question
I was about to clean the AFM in my 95 4runner, 3.0 3vze. Should I clean the Throttle body before I spray the cleaner in the air box for the AFM?

Have you done any work on the timing belt? Ill betcha it skipped a tooth...
Or you have corrosion on one of the electrical connections ill bet...pull the plugs one by one with the engine running. You'll know if the plug is getting spark when ya do!
