Im thinking about getting a 1st gen 4runner and would like to know if the 3.0 v6 in the 1st gens has head gasket problems like the 2nd gens i keeps hearing about? or just stick to the 22RE 4 cyl?

You can't go wrong with a 22re, but as far as I know the early 88-89 3.0s did not have any headgasket issues and are pretty reliable.
